Rev Carver and Pauline Anderson are founders of Shalom Consultancy. Pauline is the Chief Executive Officer and Carver the Chair of the Board.
They are an inspired couple who seek to provide a relevant, sensitive and empowering service for those who become involved with Shalom and will continue to work with individuals, families and communities in building positive relationships through it’s activities, programmes and resources.
Shalom Consultancy firmly uphold principles of anti-oppression and anti-discrimination.
Their training, experience and understanding of family life and parenting provide a significant basis for their therapeutic work with families.
Pauline enjoys working with people and has qualifications and experience in Adult Education, community development work, relationship counselling, lecturing, consultancy, teacher training and motivational work. She has worked for Birmingham City Council in the Life-Long-Learning Division and extensively with groups and organisations in seminars, conferences and retreat co-ordinating work.
Pauline brings a wealth of innovative ideas and practice to education, counselling and the women’s agenda. In her capacity as a therapeutic counsellor, Pauline is in no doubt about the standards and practice required for working effectively with individuals, couples and families, using relevant therapeutic approaches. She currently co-ordinates the Counselling Practice in Walmley, Birmingham.
Carver is a popular motivational speaker, with both national and international experience. He is regularly invited to address topics as diverse as youth spirituality and culture to issues surrounding building relationships, black boys development/empowerment, community cohesion and mediation principles including conflict management. He has experience and knowledge of working within a context of disaffection where young people are involved in lifestyles associated with anti social behaviours - travelling to teach in South and West Africa, Jamaica, Europe, USA, and across the UK.
Carver has devoted many years to serving and empowering young people and has previously worked as a National Director of Youth and Christian Education Department of a large Black led church organisation for England and Wales.
A qualified Social Worker with considerable knowledge and experience, Carver has worked with children and families in a generic setting and also in adoption and fostering – jointly managing an Adoption and Fostering Team and involved in senior management in the Education Welfare Service for Birmingham City Council. His experience and skills are in assessment, counselling, mediation and developing policies for work with families. He has had training in areas of Child Protection, court work, The Children Act 1989 and Staff supervision.
Carver is in the final year of PHD studies at the University of Birmingham.
